Yep, I am excited. This week will start a new adventure for me, business-wise.
Hold on… is it a new adventure, or maybe I should say it is “Back to the Future”. That would probably be more accurate. See, back from 2000, when I first moved to the Philippines until probably about 2010 or so, I always had employees, and I was more of the manager. But, starting in 2010 or so, I really did not have any employees. I was doing a different type of work, strictly out of my home, using my computer, and I did not feel I needed employees.
I told you recently that my businesses have experienced an upswing recently. Because of this upswing, I have found myself to be very busy, and with me doing everything myself, well, it was pushing me to the limit. Because of this, I recently posted something on Facebook saying that I was looking to hire an assistant. I got a number of applications for the job and was impressed by most everybody who applied.
Last week, I decided that there was one person that I was most interested in, and I set up a meeting with her for an interview. Feyma, my wife, went with me for the interview. Feyma won’t be working with the new employee, but I really value Feyma’s judgment, and I involve her in any major decisions in my life. It is important to me to do so.
The name of my new employee is RC. I won’t give her actual name, just initials, to preserve her privacy.
I have high expectations for RC, and I hope she can live up to my expectations. A lot of her being able to meet my expectations falls on my shoulders, and the biggest thing is to train her right, and let her know what my expectations are. Additionally, I have to teach her what I like and what I dislike about the type of work that she will do. I think I can be pretty good at that.
RC will be working from her own home, which is in the same City where I live. We will communicate by email and such mostly, but will also get together for occasional face-to-face meetings from time to time too.
RC will be starting her job this afternoon. If she reads this, I will just say “Welcome aboard!”
In my next couple of articles this week, I will be sharing more about why I hired an assistant, what I think and expect she will do to improve my business, etc.
Yep, I’m excited to see my business growing. I think there are good things down the road.
